Chaillot - Théâtre national de la Danse, Paris
The Théâtre national de Chaillot built in 1937 for the Universal Exhibition becomes Jean Vilar's Théâtre national populaire (TNP) in the 1950s. In 1975, the interior goes through a thorough renovation led by the architects Fabre and Perrottet. In 1991 the building becomes a Unesco World Heritage site, and in 2016, it becomes Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse. Listed building.
This renovation project consists of a complete architectural and technical overhaul of the Jean Vilar hall. The technical and stage installations are removed and replaced; the hall is entirely reconfigured. Its acoustic quality will be a mix of natural acoustics and of immersive sound. In parallel a large new rehearsal studio dedicated to creation is built under the Jean Vilar hall's seating with an acoustic insulation allowing simultaneous use of both halls without any constraint.
